ENGLISH TURF WINNINGS. The Cambridgeshire generally concludes the English turf season, and after it has been disposed of the critics figure on the -winning owners, racers and their sires. As far as the stallion winnings go, the smaller races during November and early December count; but the exit of the classic term carries with it the leading owners and their horses.- Last year the foremost winning owner was R. S. Sievier, owner of the sensational mare Sceptre, with a total of 23,686. These figures are excelled this year by Sir James Miller, owner of Rock Sand, the Derby winner. Next to him comes Ard Patrick with 16,470, figures which are rather handsome when it is considered that he earned the amount in two races the Eclipse and Prince of Wales Stakes. Sceptre is to the fore again and in third place with 12,633 10s., which she captured for five races. A long string of horses have won in the neighborhood of 5,000, including Our Lassie, Quintessence, Love Charm, Mead, owned by King Edward; Oriole, Montein, Flotsam and St. Amant. The two-year-old palm of the season falls to the lot of Pretty Polly, a filly by Gallinule, her top-notch figure being 13,506, the earnings of nine races. A colt named Henry the First, by Melton, winner of the Derby in 18S3, is second best with 5,067. In the list of winning sires an important change happened a little more than a week ago. St Frusquin, which held the pride of place all year, had to give way to Gallinule, the work of Pretty Polly being mainly the cause. Persimmon. King Edwards horse, made a big advance recently, Mead, Sceptre and Zinfandel contributing their share. Sainfoin, sire of Rock Sand and St. Florian, father of Ard Patrick and which is dead, made no advance. Ayrshire, Juggler and Ladas now enter che select circle of those credited with five figures. The appended table shows the number of wins for the sire, with the total amount, but it is of only those horses whose stock have won 4,500: Value. Sires. "Wins s.
