Gregor K. was off in motion, ran under restraint for the entire trip and was only cantering at the end. Mauser finished well and outgamed Falernian when it came to a drive and was on the outside of the latter for the entire route. Falernian ran well, but tired when the final drive came. He was well ridden and had no mishaps. Athelroy was under restraint for the first half, came wide at the turn into the homestretch and finished fast. Bellario ran Doorly and is unreliable. Won driving; second the same. Foresight showed the most speed throughout, raced J. P. Mayberry into submission and had enough left at the finish to stall off a challenge from Exclamation. The latter came through on the inside at the furlong post, but was crowded back in the last sixteenth, was going the fastest at the finish and would have won but for the interference. J. P. May-berry tired and was on the outside of the leaders all the way. Cyprienne got caught in a jam at the half-mile and, Lindsey pulled her up. Pure Favor stumbled when rounding the far turn and then came wide at the turn into the homestretch Lady Free Knight swerved across in front of Tamarix and Hexam at the start. Sarah Maxim broke from the extreme outside and began slowly and had to go around her field to get to the leaders, but caught Ponca tiring in the stretch run and was going away at the end. Ponca showed plenty of speed, but tired as if short. Hickory Corners was in close quarters next to the inside rail for the entire trip and was wearing Ponca down at the end and would have been second in another stride. Mamselle came wide at the turn into the homestretch, made a determined effort at the furlong post, but tired in the last sixteenth. Marco quit as if short. Scratched 42630 Bob Hilliard. 99. Irene Lindsey ran to her best form, broke well in motion, but was cut off at the half-mile by New York. Wilson then took her back in the run down the backstretch, cut the corner at the home turn, then came to the outside in the stretch run, finished fast under a drive and outgamed Big Ben in the final drive. Big Ben was made too much use of in going to the front in the first half and tired in the last sixteenth. Duelist came very wide at the turn into the homestretch, but finished very fast and outgamed Frank Bell and New York at the end. New York showed early speed, but tired. Aggie Lewis and Dan McKenna were outrun all the way. Witfull was never a contender and likes a longer route. Smathers and Hildreth entry, show, 1 to 2. Big Ben, show, 2 to 1. J. W. Charley Thompson broke running and showed speed, but Rutter took him back in the first half, moved him up to Lev Dorsey without much effort when ready and came away with a rush in the stretch run. Lev Dorsey ran a good race,-was off well and escaped interference. Ben Chance began slowly and came wide at the turn into the homestretch and finished fast. Eliza Dillon showed the most early speed, but tired when Medal caught her. Ivernia was in a pocket on the backstretch and had to go all around her field to get up, came to the outside at the turn into the homestretch and, finishing verv fast, was catching the leaders at every stride.
