Red Damsel was lucky and showed the most speed, but was doing her best at the end under a good ride. Unterock is a speedy and consistent filly, ran a good race and stood a stretch drive gamely. Mary Worth showed improvement, made up ground and finished fast. Love Note was a sharp contender in the stretch, but tired. Our Nugget received a poor start. Pipe got off poorly and was not persevered with. Irish Witch was unlucky. Scratched 42945 Burning Glass, 110. Overweights Obbligato, 4 pounds. Red Damsel, show, 7 to 10. Unterock, show, evens. The start practically decided the race. Only Bon Mot and All Gold got off well and they were running while the others were tangled up. Bon Mot showed the most speed throughout and won cantering. All Gold was lucky and ran a fairly good race. The only feature of the race was the fight for third money between Locket, Meistersinger and Nellie Forest. They were all out and driving a furlong from home and Locket outlasted the others. The Guardsman, Farmer Jim and Widows Mite absolutely had no chance at the start. They were lengths back of the others and standing still. Scratched 43013 Henry Clay Rye, 118; 42981Paul Clifford, 115; 42964 Jingler, 115; 430183 Courtmaid, 105. Overweignts Widows Mite, 2 pounds. Conkling ran in a good position to the stretch turn, where he secured a winning advantage by hugging the rail and, being inclined to quit at the end, Redfern took no chances, shaking him up. Burdette came fast in the stretch under a drive. Clear the Arena was taken up fast in the first quarter and showed plenty of speed, but tired in the stretch. Julia M. was speedy, but is a quitter. Miss Melton was knocked back at the start. Algonquin ran a poor race. Hands Up showed improvement. Scratched 42979 Coppelia. 99; 43013 Gold Dome, 93. Arrah Gowan beat the barrier by about two lengths and showed the most speed and, after racing Maiden into submission, had things all his own way. Demurrer, on the outside all the way, made up some ground in the stretch, but could not catch the winner. Paul Clifford was outrun in the first part of the race, came fast at the end and just got up in time to get third money. Lady Lavish ran in a good position all the way, closed up fast in the final furlong, outgamed the others and won going away. Magic Flute" showed much speed and was much used in racing with Tide, but held on well at the end. Bill Curtis ran a winning race. Off poorly, he made up a lot of ground and, finishing fast and appearing strong, looked to have beaten Magic Flute a head .for second money and was placed by the judges, but the stewards reversed the placing. Duke of Kendal outclassed his company and it was only a question of his being good. He was and was well handled throughout. Redfern saved ground all the way with him. He had to be whipped to get to the front, but won going away. The distance was too far for Mrs. Frank Foster, but she ran well for over a mile.
