Winner B. c, by Sain Wetumka trained by W. Whalen. Went to post at 2:38. At post 2 minutes. Start good. Won easily; second the same. Otto Stifel, getting away in his stride, made the running by a wide margin throughout and, winning with plenty in reserve, was easily best, is a colt of superior class and will beat good ones. Judge, showing vast improvement over his previous race, was the only serious contender, but could never get up, although going fully as fast as the winner at the end. Ananias closed a big gap from a bad start. Telephone also got away badly and ran in close quarters, but made up ground in the stretch. The Bugaboo, crowded in the early running, steadily improved her position. Floriana Belle ran a steady, good race. Bombardier had no mishaps. Sir Appleby received a bad start and, being on the inside, was shuffled back repeatedly. Overweights Bombardier. 3 pounds; Sir Appleby, 3. Otto Stifel, show, 1 to 4. Judge, show, G to 5. San Nicholas, away in his stride, won all the way unextended, pulling up to a canter at the end. Geheimniss put up a game effort to beat the winner. Allopath ran a good race, finished very fast and was wearing down Geheimniss at the finish. Jarretiere dOr, a fast horse and probably short, finished easing up. Stilicho ran up into prominence as they straightened for home and then tired, but will do better. Scratched 42912 Rosie Ban, 110; 43011 Martinmas, 107. Corrected weights Allopath, 110. Buc-cleuth ran in close attendance on the leaders to the stretch turn, where he was compelled to turn for home on the extreme outside and, closing up fast in the stretch run, he won going away. Galanthus, away flatfcoted and on the extreme outside, covered a lot of unnecessary ground and putting in a good stretch run finished a fast going second and may have been the best. Burdock developed sudden and improved speed, which he sustained in a forward position throughout. Tamm, away very badly, closed a big gap and ran a cracking good race. Outburst went well, but is evidently of moderate caliber. G. W. Tra-hern, capable of better things, is being raced into condition. Snark failed to stay. Won handily; second easily. Somenos, a rarely improved colt, indulged Louis Wagner with a brief lead, then went to the front and stood a drive home gamely. Blissful, getting away poorly and worse ridden, moved up with a rush on the stretch turn, but went very wide and finished on the extreme outside after losing much ground and may have been best. Louis Wagner went farther today and Is being raced into condition, was tiring badly and swerving and shut off Cambaceres in the last fifty yards. The latter should have been third, was nearly left and after trailing a bad last closed up with a rush in the stretch, only to be blocked and nearly forced over the fence. Anvil ran a dull race. Start bad. Won driving; second the same Frank Woods, suddenly improved and the medium of a big coup, held a forward position in the early running, made all of the pace and, turning for home on the outside with clear sailing, finished fast, just getting up in the last stride and won a lucky race. Glenarvon was best, got away badly and was excessively urged into the lead on the first turn, forc-- ing the pace to the stretch, where with lines loose and in a whipping finish, Reed threw away a sure victory. Constellator ran lapped on the leader throughout, but was swerving all over the course in the final drive. Meehanus, in an effort to go through on the inside at the half, was shut off and nearly fell, was repeatedly crossed in the stretch run and it was a wonder that he kept his feet Frank Woods, show, 1 to 2.
