GOSSIP OF THE TURF. Last Saturday the officials of the California Jockey Club took drastic action, which was expressed in the following official ruling: Continued on second page. GOSSiP OF THE TURF". Continued from first page. "James Davis, bookmaker, is ruled off the turf. The stewards are in possession of information to the effect that Davis and D. J. Lynch have been in collusion with jockeys D. Hall, Ferrell and M. Adkins, to have horses pulled and to lay against them in book conducted by said Davis. "Jockeys Hall, Adkins and Ferrell are also ruled off. "The said D. J. Lynch, being already ruled off the turf by the Western Jockey Club, it is beyond the power of the stewards to inflict any further punishment upon him." Locally, pity will be felt for little Ferrell, whose riding here late in the season won him many adherents and presaged a bright future as a jockey.
