El Piloto broke in his stride and. forcing the pace throughout, outstayed the only serious contender. Telephone. The latter, inadequately handled, was evidently the best, received a timid, weak ride and, after running lapped on the winner from the start, seemed to have the race won in the stretch, losing his advantage when his rider went to the whip and finished with something in reserve. Elie ran a steady race well up, closing up in the stretch run. Bill Massie, nearly left, raced up into the Held in the first half and then fell away and ran a bad race. Toto Gratiot will give much better account of herself in the mud. Judge Voorhees, away very badly and overweighted, will do better. El Piloto, show, 7 to 10. Telephone, show, 1 to 2. Wefit to post at 2:39. At post 2 minutes. Start fair. Won easily; second the same. Dargin made the running from the first stride, coming away decisively when straightened out for home, was much the best and is a useful colt. Instrument held on steadily in close quarters, closing up with a rush when having clear sailing in the final sixteenth, ran a good race and probably favors a longer distance. Minimum was prominent to the stretch, where he tired and should improve. Neko, crowded at the start, closed a gap in the last half. T. J. Cox was short and can do better. Bombardier was seriously interfered with in the early running. Dundreary, a good looker and a promising colt, was practically left and only cantered the journey. Winner Br. m, by Apache Play Toy trained by W. L. Stanfield. Went to post at 3:03. At post 2 minutes. Start straggling. Won handily; second easily. Kittie Kelly, lightly weighted and in rare form, made her own running at a fast and even pace, holding her lead gamely when challenged at the end and was best. Constellator trailed the winner throughout and was the only serious contender. Achilles held a forward position, which he sustained in improved fashion, notwithstanding the strong pace and is a much improved horse. Tom Slavin finished a respectable fourth and was always well up. Cougar ran as if short. James J. Corbett was nearly left and repeatedly interfered with. Haack ran him on top of horses on both turns and he nearly fell and again finished securely pocketed at the end and had no chance. Overweights James J. Corbett, 1 pound; Gawaine, 3. Won handily; second driving. Double Six, fresh and in fine form, broke in her stride and forced the pace throughout, winning all the way and was going away at the end. Glendenning got away flatfooted and was reserved in close attendance on the winner, but could never get up. Albemarle held on in third place from the start and finished wearing the favorite down for second place. Brennus is a useful horse, but was outclassed. Ignacio is out of place in sprints, is a superior class horse over a distance of ground and is evidently good. Clivoso is a fast non-stayer. Tllowaho. lucky and on the inside close up in the front division to the stretch, made a close turn for home, saving ground and, under a vigorous finish, just got home. Heather Honey eot away poorly and ran on the outside throughout, finished with a tremendous rush and was unlucky to lose. St. Winifride raced quickly into a long lead and although tiring in the final effort ran an unexpectedly game race. Somenos, under pressure to keep within hailing distance of the leader, moved up on terms when straightened for home, unexpectedly tiring in the closing strides. Anirad improved suddenly. Glenarvon failed to stay in the stretch run and evidently favors mud. Dorice, poorly ridden, was outrun from the lStchecl 42938 Lord Melbourne. 104; 429112Avenger, 97. Dlowaho, show, 8 to 5. Horton was crowded at the start and nearly fell, losing ten lengths and closed an immense gap, but was lucky to get through on the inside in the stretch run, where he made good with a phenomenal rush. Rosarie steadily improved her position after getting away badly and at the end finished like a cyclone. Redwald trailed within hailing distance of the leader, the race being a widely strung out procession, for six furlongs, then went up and passed him on the turn for home, tiring in the. closing strides. Silurian, interfered, with on the first turn, ran a good race and finished fast. Frank Woods, but for swerving over to the inside in the last quarter, would have been close up. Rollick showed his usual speed, but failed to stay. Billy Moore unexpectedly failed to stay. Horton, show, 2 to 5. Rosarie show, 7 to 10. Redwald, show, 3 to 5.
