Irene Lindsey handled her big weight in good style, showed a rare turn of speed and came away without great effort in the last furlong after racing Morning Star and Little Jack Horner into submission in the first half. Morning Star saved ground at the turn into the i homestretch and outgamed Little .Jack Horner. The latter beat the barrier a couple of lengths, was well ridden and ran his race. Allista finished in the middle of the track. She was crowded back in the run down the backstretch. Jimalong tired after going a half. Mordella was outrun all the way. Frank Bell outbroke the others, raced Big Ben into submission in the first half and held him safe all of the last quarter. Big Ben lacked the speed he displayed the last time out in his race with New York. Van Ness and Scorpio fought it cut for third money and Van Ness proved the best. Scorpio did not run his best race. Bountiful got a lucky start, showed a good flight of speed, but had to be hard ridden to stall off Symphony at the end. The latter closed up fast while rounding the turn out of the backstretch, but tired after getting to the leaders. Trossachs was bumped into when the start came, but made up some ground in the last furlong. Glenfio was bumped into at the start and was given an easy ride. Tower got caught in a jam soon after the start and was hopelessly crowded back. Lolly Daily broke well in motion, showed early speed, but tired in the stretch run. Step Aside saved ground at the turn into the homestretch and then tired. Overweights Tower, 1 pound. Bountiful, show. 1 to 2. Symphony, show, 3 to 5. Trossachs, show, evens. Witfull ran as if she outclassed her field, went to the front with ease on the backstretch and had plenty in reserve at the finish. Ancke finished fast and outgamed Bondage and Ethics when it came to the final drive. Bondage closed up fast while rounding the far turn, came to the extreme outside at the turn into the homestretch and tired in the last sixteenth. Ethics was bumped into a couple of times at the furlong post and sulked. Ethel Wheat showed early speed, but quit after going a half. Rainland ran well up with the leaders in the first half, but dropped back while rounding the far turn, came wide at the turn into the homestretch and made up somp ground in the last furlong, but could never get to the leader.
