Stirling Towers beat the barrier and. making most of her advantage, won all the way. Ultruda quickly took a prominent contending position, followed the winner closely throughout and finished going the fastest of the two, is in good form and can beat this kind over a longer route. Schwarzwald closed a big gap from a bad start and, running fast at the end, just got up in time to save third place. Cherries, lucky and in a forward position throughout, seemed to have third place assured and was only beat in the final stride. Carilee, after early interference, worked her way into a close up fifth at the end. Border Mark made up a lot of ground in the last six furlongs. Bright Moon ran into prominence with a good burst of speed. Leash was nearly left. Katie Walcott retired after a brief display of speed and was evidently short. . Captain Forsee, suddenly improved, trailed the leader closely under a pull and made good when called on in the stretch run, just getting up in the last fifty yards and is above the average class. Otto Stifel broke in his stride and made the running by an apparently safe margin to the stretch, where he met his match in both speed and gameness, but ran a a honest and consistent race. Atlantico closed a big gap after getting away poorly and may prove more than useful. Flea finished a fair and fast going fourth. Miss Betty, a very slow beginner, had a rough journey in the rear division to the stretch, where she commenced to gain rapidly. The Jew was badly handled. Strife showed a good turn of speed and may have been short. Scratched 43092 Bombardier, 97. Overweights Ethel Abbott, 5 pounds; Strife, 1; Technique, 5. Captain Forsee, shbw, 3 to 5. Marelio, showing suddenly improved form, ran lapped on The Miller throughout, outstaying him at the end of a long drive home. The latter got away running and forced the pace to the last stride, where the winner got up. Tom Slavin held a forward position from the start and showed steady improvement. Canejo unexpectedly fell away in the last quarter after looming up prominently in the early running. Tamm, away badly, closed a big gap. Platonius favors soft going, but is in good form. Winner Ch. c, by Claquer Lady Graves trained by P. C. Donaleche. Went to post at 3:37. At post 1 minute. Start good. Won driving; second easily. Ignacio was best and is a superior class horse over a long distance, got away well and trailed on the inside close in behind the field, luckily got through next to the inner rail while coming around the turn and in the stretch, where he flashed to the front in a twinkling and had the race won before the nominal contenders could wake up. Caronal was in a contending position when beginning the last quarter, but bore out, losing all chance, finished with a whirlwind rush, but could never get up. Ulowaho gave away too much weight, but was a prominent contender throughout. Solon broke flatfooted and suffered from much crowding on the first turn, steadily moved up and finished going fast. Hellas developed surprising speed and opened a wide gap in the early running, but tired in the stretch. Buccleuth, inadequately handled and messed about, fell away in the final drive. Discus, nearly left, closed a big gap, showing sudden improvement. Diamante is being prepared in his races. Scratched 42915Eme, 103. Overweights Discus, 2 pounds; Diamante, 1; James J. Corbett, 3. Won handily; second driving. Mocorito is in rare form, trailed close in behind the leaders and, securing a lucky opening, shot into the lead in the last fifty yards and won drawing away. Aunt Polly outstayed Puss in Boots in a long drive home, both tiring badly after having forced the pace throughout. The latter ran on the outside and should have won, was hard held in the early running and inclined to bear out in the last furlong and lost through having to be pulled off the others when she seemed to have the race won. "Velma Clark loomed up strongly when the field straightened for home and unexpectedly failed to stay. Rollick was not good enough at the weights and never really dangerous. El Piloto was held at the start and got away poorly, after which he made up considerable ground. Scratched 43096 Harry Thatcher, 102; 430272Quiet, 102; 43025Laureatea, 102; 43079s Quartre, 99. U. finished going fast and ran a game race, but is best in mud. Cougar followed the winners pace closely for seven furlongs and this race should fit him. Ohio Girl began to make up ground rapidly in the last half and ran a surprisingly good race. Royalty was practically left and only cantered the journey. He is difficult to handle and had no chance with a small stable boy. Corrected weights Frank Woods, 101; Prestolus, 103; Royalty, 101. Cambaceres, show, 1 to 2. I. O. U., show, 4 to 5.
