Falernian outclassed the field, went to the front without much effort and was never fully extended. Harmakis was under a drive all of the last furlong, but could never get to the leader. Louis Kraft outgamed Banwell in the struggle for third place. Chanley had to go all around his field to get up and finished fast. Kings Charm quit in the last furlong and is unreliable. Clarence stumbled at the far turn and Creamer pulled him up. Caybon was next to the inside rail in the deep going for the entire trip. Falernian, show, 1 to 5. Harmakis, show, 3 to 5. Captain Arnold was outrun for the first half, but moved up fast while rounding the far turn, caught Bon Mot tiring in the stretch run and came away with a rush in the last furlong. Tribes Hill was bumped into at the start and carried to the outside at the first turn, but closed a big gap and finished fast. Rankin was on the extreme outside at the start and got off tangled up and never got to going well until half the trip was run, but came with a rush at the end and just managed to get up in time to beat out Bon Mot. The latter showed early speed, but tired in the stretch. Elsie L. tired after going six furlongs. Stand Pat can do better. Satire was crowded back at the start and had to squeeze through on the inside at the first turn, went to the outside in the run down the backstretch, was much used in getting to the leaders and tired when he got to The Regent. Malay met with a lot of interference in the early struggle and closed a big gap. Alpaca ran in improved form. H. L. Coleman was a keen contender for the first six furlongs, but was tiring in the last furlong and his rider eased him up. Burke Cochran was off badly and made up much ground.
