Start straggling. Won easily; second driving. Distributor, given a dying start, forced the- pace from the start and, coming away decisively at the end, was best. Sherry always maintained a fairly good position and was going like a shot at the end. Standard displayed surprisingly improved speed and stamina from a bad sendofT. Dr. Sherman, In close quarters on the inside, tired in the last furlong. Tam OShanter, best in mud and shuffled to the rear at the start, closed a big gap. Melar also closed up fast from the rear. Ilumadu forced the pace and finished flagging, but gamely, and suffered seriously through Native Sons crowding. JI1, going like a shot, finished, close up. Yankee Jim made up early ground. Corn Blossom beat the barrier and practically forced the pace from the start, shook off his only serious opponent, Nealon, on the last turn and, coming away with any amount in hand, is a crackerjack and looks It. Nealon ran lapped on the winner for six furlongs before he tired, but easily disposed of the others in a grand race. Dorado moved u: rapidly on the Inside from a bad start, but failed in an effort to come through on the inside of the winner on the last turn and nearly fell, was a close third and ran a remarka: ble race. St. George Jr. ran under a pull for half the journey, then dropped back and was given a bad ride. Blue Eyes, away noorly, was never dangerous. Rightful ran a very bad race. Tarrigan, away poorly, closed a considerable gap and loomed up well for second place, but tired finally. Expedient, flatfooted at the start, dropped hopelessly rearward early and made up fifteen lengths in the last half. Langford James fell away after going well for five furlongs.
