Zlck Abrams showed improvement and ran a good race. Friction had no mishaps, saved much ground 011 the turns and had the benefit of a good ride. Joe Lesser, running to his best recent form, wore down Ingolthrlft after going a half mile and, after a sharp brush with Hortensia, came away with ease. Hortensia, favored by the soft track, ran a good race and easily held Dr. Hart safe at the end. Dr. Hart showed sudden improvement, made up a big gap and finished fast. Bronze Wing hung on gamely and is about due to win. Decoration ran poorly. Los Angeleno had scant chance, with his incompetent rider. Ingolthrlft showed early speed, but quit badly. Guiding Star, in his present splendid form, put up a sparkling performance, was reserved in the early running, wore down Invincible when called on and, aided by a good ride, outlasted St. Aalentlne In the final drive. The latter should have won, was kept too far back for the first half, then came on fast through the stretch and would have won at a longer distance. Southern Cross tired in the final drive, but ran a good race. Invincible quit. Bendigo was close up for the first half. Scratched 59715 Iteidmoore, 92. Overweights Bendigo, 5 pounds. Colonial Girl showed suddenly improved form, hung to Aan Ness throughout, fought it out gamely through the stretch and was iu front a stride beyond the finish. Elastic ran a good race and finished resolutely. Usury got away poorly and ran a smart race. Electric Spnrk showed tine speed and is worth remembering.
