Griffin starting no horses. M. M. 1., Chicago. Bemay straight paid half of the sum obtained by adding the prices together. Place bets were draws. W. II. M., Havana, ill. There is no "contradiction" in the two cases you cite. In each case the person bet on Bemay and while winning so far as the horse was concerned lost money by doing so. The payment to you was correct.
