OLD STONE HAS BEEN NERVED FIVE TIMES. Louisville, Ky., September 13. It looks as though Mose Goldblatts campaigner, Old Stone, after having broken down repeatedly, may still have a useful racing career before him, as, after having been nerved five times in the last four months he is going about as sound as he ever did. This repeated nerving was due to the fact that after the first and subsequent operations small tumors formed on tho end of the nerve, and these had to be removed. Goldblatt bought Old Stone from the Kentucky turfman, P. J. Mattiugly, paying ,000 for him. Mr. Mattiugly owns his dam, White Wings, bred her and raced her as a two and three-year-old. Sykcs-tou, his sire, will be remembered by old racegoers as a horse that performed with some distinction on eastern tracks several years ago. But that he went lame early, Old Stone would have been a highclass racehorse. One of his best performances was his defeat of Rapid Water at New Orleans last winter when, with 114 pounds, he ran the last mile of the journey in 1:38.
