Columbia Girl maintained a lucky forward position in the early running and, coming fast in the stretch, got up to win in tlie last stride. Glvonnl Balerio outbroke and outpaced the others until in tlie last sixteenth, wliero he tired and finished boring out. Sir Caruthers ran forwardly . from the start and finished unexpectedly gamely. Anna Smith was in forward contention throughout and ran a good race. Bowling Bridge finished making up ground. Lindale broke fast and ran prominently for six furlongs before he retired and is very good and worth watcTiing. Panique,-pulling up at the start, ran around on tlie extreme outside and. closing an immense gap, might have won. Dekaber and Wizard both had rough journeys and were gaining, at the end. Hyperbole maintained her speed unexpectedly well throughout and Is showing steady improvement Clara Huron, nearly left, closed a big gap and finished like a cyclone, but required a more vigorous rider. Mexican Silver again failed to stay. Acrobat ran prominently for six furlongs. Blue Dale likes soft going and Is not good yet. Colonel Jack suffered at the start and, being overweighted, was alwavs Outpaced. Palette, excessively urged to dispose of the pacemaker In the. early running, took the lead In the stretch and eventually weakened, but finished a game second, running In remarkably improved form. Angler, luckily placed all the way, loomed up in the last quarter like the winner, but succumbed after a game stretch struggle. Sailor Boy jumped into the lead earlv and made tlie running for a mile and a quarter before he was headed and ran a very good race at the weights. Woodsman, pulling up at the start and shut off many times was pocketed securely for the first half and closed up well in the stretch under a bad ride. McKittredge plodded along all the wav And was closing, up at the end. Jungle Imp was never dangerous. Toddles, choked in the early running in an effort to place her, finished a good fourth. Theyre Off was in forward contention for six furlongs, but failed to stay Cork Hill, away badly, closed a big gap like a stayer. Katriona bolted on the last turn.
