Among the yearlings is the brother in blood to Salvidere, for which he paid ,000. A few days before his departure for the -west, Ellison visited the ottices of the Jockey Club and secured an option on the name Governor Hughes for his colt. "I have always had good luck with the horses I have named after politicians," he told the Registrar, "and I want this son of Sir. Dixon and Sallle of Navarre to turn out a winner. Thats why I want to reserve the name Governor Hughes." "But suppose Mr. Hughes is, not elected Governor?" asked the Registrar. "Oh, I am not supposing that he will not. I am betting that he will," replied Ellison; "but if he isnt then there will be no Governor Hughes and well have to dig up another name for this good youngster." -
