Landsman jumped into the lead at the start and proceeded to spreadeagle his opponents and won never seriously menaced. Marathon, nearly left, raced around on the extreme outside, closed an Immense gap and was coming like a cyclone at the end, but had no chance with his ride or the start. Pierrot, steadily Improving, was In nearest pursuit of, the winner until right at the end. Charles G. Gates, away slowly, steadily improved Ids position and finished a fast going fourth. Linnepee ran prominently to the Html sixteenth and can do better. Sandy Crocker was poorly ridden and can also do better. Rappahannock had no mishaps and quit badlv after going a forward five furlongs. Jester was practically left. Grand Duchess beat the barrier and maintained a forward place and was in game contention throughout. McKIttredge, a slow beginner, steadily improved his . position on , the inside in deep going.und, in a whirlwind finish, barely failed . to get up. Sononia Belle had no. mishaps, loomed up well on the last turn, but tired at the end. J. F. Dbuohue, away Very poorly, closed a big gap. Woodsman, nearly left, made up a lot of ground in leisurely fashion. G. L. M. showed superior early speed, but failed to stay. Palette was sore and unfit to start. Waterbtiry broke slowly and ran in nearest pursuit of the winner throughout, but seemed anchored by the cuppy going. Royal llreeze, away poorly, closed a big gap and was best. Wool-startle also suffered at the start and made up a lot of ground, running a surprisingly good race, Merrill was in forward contention to the stretch, where he tired, was in deep going and can do much beiter. Hot Toddy, in an effort to make a waiting race, was shullled to last on the backstretch and seemed hopelessly out of it, but closed up fast under the whip, saved several lengths by a close stretch turn and just got up in the last stride. Belmere. skillfully reserved in the early running, moved up fast from the far turn and, though boring out, just failed to last long enough. Zienap, away slowly and shut off on the lirst turn, was rushed into the lead on the hackstreteh, but was again -shullled back on the last turn, then finished like a cyclone in a belated end rush and at the weights was best. Orilene loomed up like the winner on the last turn and the premature fast move probably beat her in a good race. Ironsides was -closing up well in the stretch. Athlete ran forswardly from the start and finished going . fastest of all. Bryan was close up all the way and ran a fairly good race, but can do better.
