Went to post at 2:00. At post 3 minutes. Start good. Won cantering; second driving; third the same. Lotus quickly established a small lead and made the running hard held to the last turn, where she drew away and won off cantering. Bertha E. was in forward pursuit of the winner in the- deepest going next to the rail to the stretch, where she was disposed of by the winner, but easily held the others safe. Quadrille tired after close and strenuous forward contention with the favorite, but was a good third and in his best form. Mintia, running oa the extreme outside, was a prominent contender for five furlongs. Prince Frederick, very slow in getting away, closed a big gap. Transmute showed speed, but failed to stay. Mary Morris wants a longer race and Is fresh and fit. Firebrand ran. poorly. Escalaote finished well up and is worth watching. Scratched 650S9Penrbyn, 105; C50G5 Mary B. Clark, 105. Sister Frances was waited with far in the- rear of the slow early pace and allowed Watergrass to. steal several lengths lead on the far turn and had a hard time of it to get up and win, but was much the best. Watergrass made the running undisturbed for six furlongs and made a remarkably close thing of It until in the last couple of strides, where she swerved and tired. Chalfonte, very good, was in forward and game contention throughout. Penrhyn-made.tne tunning for six furlongs under a pull and fell back when the winner ranged alongside and lost several lengths, then came again fast. G. L. M., away poorly, closed a big gap and finished well up. Stoic lost ground rapidly ou the backstretch and was never dangerous afterwards. Supreme made up a considerable gap from a bad start. Wes was injudiciously sent along to force the running, exhausted his reserve speed too soon and fell an easy prey to the favorite in the last quarter. Sally Prestou, away badly, made. up ten lengths In a furlong and, being carried hopelessly wide cn the last turn, failed to get up, but was the best. Dollie Dollars set the pace from a flying, start and bore out to the outside fence, carrying Sallv Preston with her on the stretch turn, letting the winner and second horse up on the inside. But for this Sally Prestou and Dollie Dollars would have finished in front. Hyperbole closed a considerable gap from a poor send-off Mintberia, a slow beginner, was shuflled out of the race immediately after the start. Belle of Iroquois was nearly loft. Dunvallo got away badly and closed up ground on the extreme outside. El Dorado had no mishaps and maintained a prominent position to the stretch, where he unexpectedly failed.
