Firebrand ran in close attendance on Belle Strome to the stretch turn, where he passed her and, drawing away, won off. Chippewa was always forward in the running and stayed gamely in the closing drive. Belle Strome showed the most early speed, but tired under pressure in the stretch. Yada was poorly ridden, but closed a big gap and would have been third in another stride. Onatas ran fairly well only and can do better. Bon Mot was always outrun. Dainty came fast in the stretch and outstayed Leonard Joe Hayman for second place in a sharply contested finish. The latter forced the pace and finished gamely, but was overweighted.
