NOTES OF THE TURF. Gi Between lias been sent Into winter quarters at Bound Brook, N. J. There was a strike in Sam Hlldreths barn at Oakland last week as a result of which seven of his helpers threw up their jobs. J. W. Fuller has telegraphed from Wills Point, Tex., for stable room for fourteen horses at the track of the Crescent City Jockey Club. Salvldere is reported to be one of-a number of young horses sent by John E. Madden to winter at the old Clinton Park track near Little Rock, Ark. Garnet Ferguson has a ?ouple: of yearlings! at the Oakland track which have attracted a good deal of attention. A yearling brother of Yankee Jim has also showed up well. Half Moon Farm on which the new track near Pittsburg is to be located was not purchased outright by the promoters, but was leased for twenty-five years with the privilege of purchase. Edward Corrigans two-year-old ;fllly, Margie, by Scintillant II. Lucerne, was seized with fever while en route to New Orleans which developed into hemorrhage from which she died Tuesday morning. James Shields, quite a noted trainer when Gutten-, berg was at the height of its prosperity, died, at his home in Brooklyn last Saturday. He was the iutor and developer of jockey Griffin, one of the best riders this country has known.
