Gemmell suffered slightly from crowding at the start, but quickly ihoved into, a contending position and tired only in the last sixteenth. Pellgroso made up considerable groiirtd into a close fourth. Peerless Lass was messed about -nil the way and had no chance with a novice rider. Laura E. tired and quit after an early strenuous effort to head the winner. The others were always outrun. Start bad. Won driving; second and third the same. Logistllla refused to break and was nearly left, but closed up gradually "and won out in :the last stride of a whirlwind stretch sprint. Dusty Miller outbroke the others and established a big lead at the half and appeared a sure winner until in the last furlong, where he was driven along vigorously, but ;to no avail. Ramus maintained early close pursuit of the terrific pace and dropped back, on the far turn, then camfe again into an easy third and is a superior horse. Rubric broke slowly and was inadequately handled, dropped to a rear positlon for six furlongs and finished with a fast, but delated, move. Pontotoc showed early speed. J. C. Christine A. ran into a long lead at the half and held sway to the last furlong, where she tired unexpectedly. Massa was badly messed about, shut off frequently and finally pocketed in the last furlong. King Cole was well up to the last turn, then ran out and quit finally, running a bad race. Llsaro, froni a good start, was close up on the turn, then lost ground and came again with a rush, running a grand race. St. Francis was always iii forward pursuit ;and loomed up menacingly in the stretch, but tired and was short. Hector outbroke the ; cithers and set the pafee to the far turn, where he was headed and tired finally. Fulletta was always outrun and can do better. Overweights Gypsy King, 1 pound.
