MEETING FOR AMATEURS AT LINDEN. l.ouis Batjen. well known in amateur racing cinles of the east, has planned a novel one day meeting of amateur sport to be held at the Linden racetrack. The object of the meeting is to give an iMBUIIaalty for an early trial of horses whhli are to be cin.li dates for prima .fi.red by the various hunt meetings later in the season, and at the same time provide an afternoon of racing for those Interested in hunting and amateur steeplechasia-. No pur-es will he given, but the winner in each event will receive a trophy, which is dearer to the heart af the liinateiir than a money prize. There will be no charge to witness the racing and aaaateara will do the riding. There will be live naeea, including a flat race for hunters or hacks: I ftat race for ponies or galloways, and three steeplc-rhawea. One of the steeplechases will lie open to thoroughbreds that have been hunted. This will be Hie tirst amateur meeting of Hie season and should have uhe support of all who take any interest in Ibis torui of spurt.
