WEAVINGS OF SENSATIONALISTS. Stune of the New York dailys printed a story to the effect that Davy Johnson would not start Rose ben in the Curler Handicap unless Ihe Jockey Club should grant a temporary license to .lack Martin that he might ride the big sprinter. Mr. Johnson, while expressing his disappointment that he could not have the services of Martiu. branded the statement as a fabrication out of whole cloth. "Such a flimsy attempt at coercion that would be." said he, "Why. I never thought of such a thing, and if I had have thought it, 1 would have been ashamed to give utterance to it."
