DISCHARGING AN OBLIGATION. Lexington. Ky., May 3. — By doing the starting at the local meeting gratuitously, Jake Holtman feels that he is discharging an obligation to a dead friend. When Captain Samuel S. Brown bought the old track and began his effort t« revive racing here In 1905. starter Holtman entered into the spirit of the project and told Captain Brown that he would come here and do the starting without pay. Holt-mans engagement in California prevented bis fulfilling his promise until now. Holtmaus work has tteeu uniformly good.
