PREEN SETS ANOTHER TRACK RECORD Lowers His Own Mark at Pimlico by Running Three-Quarters in 1:1*1. Baltimore. Md.. May 3.— The handicap, which came as the fifth race, was the feature of a sparkling card at Iimlieo today. The withdrawal of The Clown and Lord Boanerges took something of the interest from the race, but for all that there was speed enough left to make it exciting. Preen won the race, and he had to do his licst to l eat out Graziallo. which finished more resolutely than usual. The track record. 1:131, "as lowered. Preen established this record April 20, MM, with 114 up. Last Friday Preen with 117 up equalled that record and today with 120 up he rati in 1:13. The steeplechase, which was next to the handicap in interest, was won by Bound Brook, with Cardigan second and Flying Virginian third. These made a pretty race through the field, but Bound Brook was much the best horse today aud won in something like his true form. The remainder of the card was made up of selling races, but they made interesting contests and were the mediums of lively betting. A real good thing was landed in the fifth raec when King of Bashan won. Etta Louise again failed her backers in the second race. Patriciau won after a struggle with I.arikin. from the Goughaeres Stable. The last race of the day was a great betting affair, the public being divided between Anna Smith and Niblick. Both horses were strongly supported, with Niblick having the call at post time. Anna Smith gof off flying and was never ■■fed. Niblick made a strong effort right at the end, but could not quite get up. A stronger rider would have landed him first. A very good program is offered for tomorrow, with seven races to be disposed of, and with such useful racers as Diamond, Cousin Kate. Scarfell; Miss Catesby, Bergoo. Profit; Ormondes Right, The Clown, Racine II.: Rock Storm, Amanda H., Var-ner; Hyperion. Bulwark, Gallant; Prince Brutus. Nellie Burn, Queen of Knight: Ida Reck, Somnus and King of Bashan among the entries, excellent entertainment seems in store for local patrons of racing. J. H. Anderson.
