MATT WINN TO MANAGE BOTH TRACKS. Though no official announcement has been made, It is practically settled that Matt J. Winn, president of the American Turf Association, will be the general manager of both the tracks at New Orleans next winter. There will be no . pooling of Interests and no holding company, such as that now cotr-trolling Churchill Downs and Douglas Park in Louisville, but there will be, a better defiued working arrangement between the owners of City Park and the Fair Grounds than in the past. Not all, but several of the official positions at both tracks will be filled by the same persons. The dates will be those agreed upon a year ago. City . Park will have sixty-one days and the Fair Grounds will have sixty days, and City Park will open first. The sea-sou will open the third week In November.
