Basil began slowly, but worked his way up on the inside and was wearing the winner down at the eiiil. Pungent, always in forward contention, followed the fast leader closely, but was tiring at the end and just lasted long enough to save third place. Ruiloba could never improve his position. Leto-hatchie went to the front at the start, set a fast pace, raced Ena into subjection and drew away in the final drive. Ena was always in closest pursuit and finished gamely. Catherine F. got into third place quickly and put up a strenuous effort to take second place. Peter Sterling ran close in behind the pacemaker until on the far turn, then moved up under punishment, caught Avauuteer and raced him into defeat and had enough left at the end to stall off the rush of Jacomo. The latter trailed until on the stretch turn, then moved up fast and finished gamely. Ballot Bos was a keen contender all through and ran a good race. Lady lialdur followed the fast going leaders closely from the start, caught Aquiline on -the turn for home, raced her into defeat and won with something in reserve. Aquiline was off fast and set the early pace, but mide a wide turn into the stretch and let the winner through next to the rail and was tiring fast in the final strides. Dew of Dawn was outrun in the early stages and made a wide turn into the stretch, but finished fast. Anoura quit after going well for three furlongs. Wasti ran his race. The latter, off badly, closed a big gap and ran a winning race, Suzanne Roeauiora showed early speed, but tired in the run through the stretch. Restoration ran a good race and will do to remember.
