The race was run in a heavy rainstorm and colors could not be distinguished. Tom Shaw broke in front and remained there for the entire trip. Gun Cotton was going fast at the finish. Alencon went to the front before they had gone twenty yards and, after being rated along in the lead under restraint, drew away easily In the last quarter. Trouveur kept the winner close company until straightened out in the homestretch, but was tiring at the end and under a hard drive to stall off Punky. The latter broke tlatfooted, but closed a big gap and finished fast. Slickaway seemed unable to extend himself in the going. The winner was entered for ,000; no bid. Dawson and Rock Storm raced like a team until after taking the last jump, then Dawson easily drew awav in the stretch run on the flat. Rock Storm was well handled, but tired under the whip in the last sixteenth and the going evidently was not to his liking. Boniire sulked and slowed down almost to a walk after taking the thirl jump. Polly Prim, outrun for the first six , furlongs, finished gamely under the whip and outgamed Welbourne at the end. Xhe latter showed superior early speed, biit tired in the last quarter. Dog Rose outbroke his opponents, nnd, opening up a two lengths lead in the first quarter, was kept under a steadying pull until rounding the first quarter, but bolted to the outside when making the turn into the homestretch, where lie cut across in front of Cave Adsuin, and was disqualified for fouling the latter. Cave Adsum was hard ridden to get to the leaders and appeared to be beaten when the interference occurred. Sam Bernard, as usual, closed a big gap and finished fast. Lyndhurst was outrun throughout. The latter came again under a drive and was wearing the winner down at the finish. Nellie Burn, outrun In the early stages, finished with a rush. De Reszke had every advantage, but could not stay at the pace. Dolinda was never dangerous. The winner was entered for 00; no bid.
