MAY CURTAIL KENTUCKY MEETINGS, t Horsemen Guess that Commission Will Cut Down the Requested Dates. Lexington, Ky., August !. A meeting of tin; State Racing Commission will be held as soon as convenient to take action upon the application of the racing association here, at Louisville and Latonia, agreed upon at the conference yesterday. What the action will be is problematical. There are many who believe that the Racing Commission will adhere to the policy of restriction indicated in their actions and statements during the spring and summer and that the dates at Louisville and I.atonia will be curtailed. The best guessers here have assigned fifteen days for Louisville and twenty for I.atonia. This would be a cut of seven days three at Louisville and four at Latonia from the schedule as arranged by the track representatives. There was not the slightest friction of any kind at the meeting yesterday. The Louisville and Latonia representatives seemed desirous of granting any request that Lexington made, and Lexington seemed glad to concede any wish the other tracks wanted except to hold their meeting after the Octolier trotting meeting here. "Of course, we think we are entitled to an eighteen-day meeting at Louisville or we would not ask for it." said President Charles F. Grainger of the New Louisville Jockey Club before bis departure for home. "However, we will be satisfied with whatever action the commission takes. The fall Hireling at the New Louisville Jockey Club track will be the best ever held at Churchill Downs at that season of the year. The purses will be the largest and the snort will be clean and healthy. Kacing in Louisville lias always been conducted on a high-class plane, but not until this year were so many good horses racing at the track, because there has never been as much money offered and lie-cause of inactivity elsewhere." Harvey Myers, representing Latonia, said that he believed the commission would grant the request of the Latonia Jockey Club for a twenty-four days meeting. "The people of Cincinnati and vicinity are anxious for a good race meeting this fall. They enjoy good, clean racing and the officials of the Latonia Jockey Club have spared no pains or money to insure the very best of sport. Latonia would like to have as long a meeting as the commission will grant, but cares to respect the wishes of other tracks and vdocs not want to infringe on their rights. So far as Latonia is concerned the sport will be better this fall than ever before at the fall meeting at that track. There will be but few changes and nothing of importance." President Camden, of the Kentucky Association, said that the only dates the Kentucky Racing Association cared for were the dates in September, as It had been seen by past experience that a successful race meeting could not be held here after the fall trots. "The horses will be fresli and the Lexington meeting will be the best held here in years," said President Camden. "The State Kacing Commission will be called together in a few days and the dates allotted. So far as Lexington is concerned I do not think there will be any trouble about the dates agreed on. The program will be published in a week or two and it will be only a short time until the bugle will be calling the runners to the post."
