Miss Strome was shullled back after early prominence, but came with a great rush through the stretch and got up in the last stride. Lally also closed a big gap and came fast through the stretch. Sam Bernard forged into the lead on the stretch turn, but tired and succumbed in the final drive. Beggar Maid showed superior early sjieed, but failed to stay the route. Zipango went fairly well. Lady Vera ran a good three-quarters and quit. Senator Clay was oil poorly, but ran a thoroughly bad race. Ben Fleet quickly established a small lead, which lie relinquished to Explosion for a furlong, then drew clear, won going away and is a good and improving colt. Explosion was a game and forward contender throughout and, while finally giving way to the winner, easily outstayed Smoker for second place. The latter ran a fast and game nice at the weights. Nealon followed the leaders within striking distance to the stretch, then came on fast and finished resolutely, but could not get. up. Cressina ran an extra good race and was a fast going third. Dasliaway closed an immense gap in the last half and will do to watch. Dr. Cardner showed his usual great speed, but again failed to stay, tiring badly in the stretch drive. Miss Doyle followed the pacemakers to theFtretch turn, then moved into the lead and finally won out at the end of a long drive. Kilter was saved in the early running and, coming fast in the stretch, gamely outstayed Maxnar for second place. The latter was well ridden and ran a good race, but tired in the final drive. Von Tronip followed Keep Moving closely to the stretch, but failed to stay and ran below his true form. DArklo ran well and is improving. Javotte was speedy, but tired in the closing struggle, iiorious Betsy finished well. Jane Swift was unlucky and closed a big gap. Goes Fast will probably do better.
