Paul Clifford, off forwardly, alternated with Ralbert in setting and forcing a fast pace until In the last furlong, then drew away with a rush. Ralbert ran to his best form and easily held La Sorciere safe for second place. The latter got into third place quickly and stayed there, but could not Improve his posltldn. Tony Hart was waited with through the first turn of the Held, then moved up when soing to the twelfth Jump and, standing a drive through the last furlong, gamely managed to outstay Ralph Reese. The latter was waited with too long, finished with a belated rush and was wearing the winner down fast at the finish. Chief Desmond was always prominent in the running and a fast going and gaining second. Moliere closed a big gap in the last quarter. Bewitched showed speed, but tired. Shirley R. beat the barrier by a length and ran well most of the way, but quit suddenly in the last sixteenth. Linda Lake ran a good half before tiring. The others were outpaced throughout. Chauida, favored by the soft going, followed the pacemakers close up to the stretch, then moved into the lead with a rush and won going away. Kaelotum ran unexpectedly well in the going, but was handicapped bv the going and tired in the stretch drive. Jupiter showed superior early speed, but was unduly rushed in pacemaking and failed in the final furlong. Crafty made a good effort in the homestretch, but could not get up and quit badly. Gold Spray showed early speed. The winner was entered for ; no lid. Ovcrwcighls Pcrfector, .! pounds.
