JOHNNIE BLAKES ENGAGEMENTS. Fred Cooks crack two-year-old, Johnny Blake, winner of eight consecutive races, has been at the Saratoga track throughout the meeting. He Is In robust health and has been in exercise right along, but having no stake engagements there has not been raced. He has been heavily engaged in the stakes to be run over the New York tracks from the Sheepshead Bay meeting on, and will have ample opportunity to confirm the good opinion of his prowess entertained by those who have seen the speedy son of The Commoner In his races over the northern circuit tracks. At Sheepshead Bay alone he has the following engagements: September 3 Partridge Stakes, ,000 added, 3-4 mile. September 5 Dash Stakes, ,000 added 5-8 mite. September 7 Flatbush Stakes, 0,000 guaranteed, 7-S mile. September 10 Autumn Stakes, ,000 added, 3-4 mile. September 13 Golden Rod Stakes, ,000 added, C 1-2 furlongs. September 14 Great Eastern Handicap, ,500 guaranteed, 3-4. mile. Of these events Colin is in none except the Flat-bush, but in that event and the others named, are John Marrs, Grande Dame, Half Sovereign, Gene Russell Big Chief, Fair Play, Nimbus, Jim Gaffney, Notasulga, Uncle, Lady Winifred, Meellck, Spooner, Ben Fleet, Beaucoup, Julia Powel, Cha-pultepec, King James, Cohort, Stamina, Firestone, Bar None and other two-year-old stars of the year, so his capacity Is likely to be tested to the utmost. But he is evidently a good one himself, and unless a victim of an accident of training or racing is likely to take his full share of the stakes for two-year-olds at the fall meetings, at Sheepshead Bay, Gravesend, Brighton Beach and Belmont Park. As Notasulga is the best filly sent east from the west, so is Johnnie Blake the best colt.
