DURNELL WILL RACE AT OAKLAND. Will Spend a Short Time Abroad His Brother Preparing Nineteen Horses. Saratoga, X. Y., August 24. C. E. Durnell stated today that he will go abroad for only a short stay; will return to America in October and will proceed direct to San Francisco, taking jockey E. Dugan with him. Ho will campaign a string of nineteen horses on the Oakland track during the winter. These are now being trained at Oakland by his brother. Durnell also said that Dugans earnings since coming east amounted to 0,000, and the boy. has planned to invest this money in the purchase of a home for his mother at Oakland. Durnell did not sell his contract on E. Dugan outright, as reported. He refused 20,000 for it. R. T. Wilson, Jr. lias simply first call on the boy during Durnells absence In England. W. Dugan has announced his retirement from the saddle, and will buy some horses to race at Oakland the coming winter. He will train them himself.
