BALLOTS SHEEPSHEAD BAY TASKS. With Peter Pan retired for the year it will now fall to Ballot to do the heavy work of the Keene stable in tho great stakes for three-year-olds arid three-year-olds and over. Judging from what ho has already done, Ballot is amply able to meet all requirements and with Superman, Court Dress, Philander, Gretna Green, Zambesi and Cabochon to assist, the Keene stable seems able to get along comfortably without thu services of Peter Pari. Ballot is well engaged at Sheepshead JJay and If no accident befalls him seems, likely to add between 30,000 and 0,000 to the already plethoric stable account for the year. Ballots nominations there are In the following races: Date. Stake and value. Distance. August 31 fall Handicap, ,000 added 3-1 September 2 -Twin City Handicap, 0,000 added .... 1 1-4 September 7 Century Stakes, 0,000 guaranteed 1 1-2 September 0 Ocean Handicap, ,500 added;. 1 September 13 Omnium Handicap, ,000 added 11-8 September 14 Annual Champion Stakes, 5- 000 guaranteed 2 1-1 It is not likely that such a distinguished and high class colt will be started in more than four of these stakes at the utmost and it is more than probable that he will be saved for the Century and Annual Champion alone. The Twin City Handicap is a rich event, but Ballot is sure to be assigned an impost sufficient to be a staggerer for even a crack four-year-old and in view of the long distance of the other two great races, it is more than probable he will be an absentee when the horses go to the post for the Twin City. So far as appearances go now tho Century Is at his mercy, only Frank Gill, McCarter and Ironsides appearing able to offer any considerable opposition. For the Annual Champion Salvidere, Montgomery, Fouufainblue, McCarter, Paumonok and Faust are the best other eligibles of his own age. Of older horses Gloritier, Holscher, Ironsides, Lotus Eater and Kanid Water are all that appear worth a moments consideration and of these it Is questionable whether any but Holscher will be sent to the post.
