Sanguine broke slowly and closed up steadily into a fast going second and had no mishaps. Miss Dclancv steadily improved her position into a fast going third. Kerry made the miming to the stretch, where "he bolted to the outside and was eliminated as a contender, but showed superior speed. Wave Crest, nearly left, closed a big gap. This cost him the race, as Essex II. closed an immense gap afterwards. Gus Straus pursued the same tactics as Essex II. and ran a good race Knight of HI way fell at the Liverpool and carried Essex II. and Gus Straus in. Mombassa ran lapped on the winner to the last turn, where she dropped out unexpectedly through going wide, but came again and got up for second place In the last stride. Explosion, on the inside, crowded and in close quarters, was under pressure to hold her position in the bad going and tired linally, but ran a good race. Whip Top, away poorly, closed up steadily. Queen Marguerite showed brilliant early speed, but failed to stay. Fond Heart, shullled to the rear early, can do better. Lady Winifred was pulling up at the start and was as good as left.
