Ohert, away badly, seemed hopelessly outrun in the first quarter, but closed up rapidly and made good decisively at the end. Miss Mazzoni also suiTcred at the start and made up much ground into a fast going second. Orfano, nearly left, closed an immense gap. Rosario, after forward pursuit, of the pacemakers; loomed up like the winner on the last turn, but quit. Senator Barrett outbroke and outpaced the others to the last turn, then quit badly. Rifle Range finished well and so did Ingraham. Youthful drew out on the inside in the stretch like winning, but quit suddenly. The winner was entered for 1,000; no bid. Lord Stanhope broke well and was reserved within strikiug distance of the pacemakers to the stretch, where ho drew out aud won off. J. F. Donohue, nearly left, closed an immense gap and, showing superior staying powers, got up in the last stride for second place. Schroeders Midway improved his position steadily into a fast coming third. Funky, in setting the pace, was excessively urged in the deepest going- ami tired under a badly judged ride. Lord Lovat held on gamely, but is not good. Golden West, held at tho post, went hopelessly wide and loomed up like winning on the last turn, but tired badly. Prince Fortu- natus quit unexpectedly after going well for half the journey. The winner was entered for 1,200; no bid. Scratched 715513Flowaway, OS.
