Polar Star was shullled back soon after the start and closed, a big gap in the last quarter. Cuernavaca was prominent for a half only. Darling Dan closed a big gap, but quit in the stretch. Goldquest, away slowlv, moved into "a commanding position in the first quarter, but was allowed to go wide in the stretch and this cost him second place. Jack Atkin was away in a tangle, but wore the leader down in the first quarter and, taking the lead easily, won without being fully extended. Ed Kane showed much speed, put up a splendid performance and finished gamely. Dasliaway, from a slow beginning, gained steadily and was right there at the end. Mike Sutton quit after going a fast half and will improve. Chief Hayes was never a serious factor and can do much better. Faust ran far below his best form.
