Apache away fast and clear of interference, set a stiff pace ail the way and held the others safe through- out winning well In hand, although mildly driven in the last furlong. Task Master began slowly, but gained graduallv and but for going wide into the stretch might have won. Firmament, away stumbling, got settled in his stride quickly, followed the early leaders close up and finished fast and gamely. Water -Lock showed a good performance under weak riding. Ansouia came with a good rush after a rough trip f in the early stages. Sainesaw bad to go wide most of the way. Bosom Friend closed a big gap in the last half, as also did Rosehloom. Bonart, also showing improvement, ran 7 well for three-quarters before tiring. Young Stevens moved up steadily, although going wide and. with : better rider up, might have won. Flowaway ran fairly well. McAllister, shuiiled back soon after the !-art, can do better. "Zinfandel quit after going a half. Durable was a distant trailer all the way. Arrow Swift, away fast, ran a good race and held on well in the closing drive. Inauguration was prominent from the start, but tired after going five furlongs. Orena ran a good race and came from a long way back in the stretch. Thomas Calhoun ran fairly well. Ed Kane finished fast. Whisk Broom ran a bad race and can do much better. The Bear, away in a tangle, showed superior speed and held on better than expected in the final drive. Princo Ahmed had a rough trip, but finished with a rush when clear. Jacobite was in trouble soon after the start and had to go wide to avoid interference, but finished gamely and close up. Carthage was in close quarters, but ran a good race and will improve. Irontenac came from a long way back In the stretch. Charlie Eastman was knocked out of any chance soon after the start. Cooney K. can do better. Meadowbreeze showed early speed. Miss Strome ran a good race, moved up fast into close pursuit of the winner and finished gamely. Glamor was in close quarters in the early stages, but ran wMI and outstayed Rappahannock for third place. Rappahannock was taken wide throughout, but finished close up. Javanese showed sudden improvement. Denigre was a distant trailer for the first half, then made up ground and will improve. Judge Treen can do much better. Artful Dodger showed speed. Dainty Belle, ruuning to her best form, hart to go around the others on the first turn and, benefited by a jam which occurred, raced Delmore into defeat in the first three-quarters, but had to do her best at the end to outstay the latter. Delmore moved up fast on the first turn and showed the most speed and, after being passed, rallied and came again in a game effort. King of Troy was cut off repeatedly in the first three-quarters, but saved ground when coming into the stretcli and would have won with clear sailing. Cull ran well and also suffered from much interference. Charlie Thompson, outrun early, closed a big gap and finished fast. Sister Polly tired. Granada had scant chance with the frequent interference he was subjected to. Mazie ONeill was thrown at the three-quarter posf while running in a commanding posi-tien.
