The latter showed brilliant speed, but tired and was brought to the whip suddenly in the final sixteenth. Progress net a sharp early pace, but failed to stay. Daruma ran well all the way. Won driving: second and third the same Old Settler began slowly, but was lucky to get through when turning for home and, responding gamelv to punishment, outstayed Lackfoot in a rattling last sixteenth drive. Lackfoot, away well and always i:lose up, ran next to the inside .rail in the final sixteenth and showed great gameness under the whip, but succumbed finally. Harvel displayed brilliant speed for five furlongs, then tired suddenlv. Grindstone finished fast. Tom Shaw ran well to the stretch and retired. The winner was entered for 00; no bid. Old Timer, showing dazzling speed, meed Stanley Fay Into exhaustion in the first six furlongs, then stood a hard last sixteenth drive with rare gameness, outstaying Magazine. The latter ran within striking Jisiance of the leaders from the start, came through fast in the final eighth and finished gamely under punishment, but could not quite get up in a grand effort. Stanley Fay showed great speed for six furlongs and tired into a distant third. Early Tide ran to his best form. Macias ran a fast three-quarters and tired. The others were alwavs outrun.
