Won driving; second and third the same. .Severus, well ridden, was in forward contention from the start, but was forced wide in the stretch and had to stand a hard final drive to get up in time to win. Tea Leaf ran a good race and was a dangerous competitor all the way. Inauguration showed superior speed from the start and tired in the stretch, but held on gamely. Dick Rose ran a good race and is a better colt than has been supposed. Lexington Lady in close quarters most of the way, put up a good performance. Sabado closed a big gap from a poor le-ginning. Salnesaw was crowded back soon after the start and had scant chance thereafter. Lute Foster tired fast after going three furlongs and can do much better. Coon, running to his best form, was prominent all the way, saved much ground when turning into thi stretch and. aided by Belle Strome bearing out in the last sixteenth, got up in time to win in the last stride. Belle Strome, much the best, ran well and appeared a certain winner in the last furlong when siie began bearing out under weak riding and was unlucky to lose. Meadowbreeze showed sudden Improvement and came from a long way back in the last quarter from a slow beginning. Fay showed the most early speed, but tired in the last furlong, but ran good race. Haudzarra showed speed, but tired in the last quarter and may have been short. Fantastic trailed far Jack throughout and her race should be thrown out. Orly, from a slow beginning, came with a tremendous rush in the last quarter and favors a longer distance. Bertha E. ran poorly and can do better. Artrul Dodger can also do better. Dew of Dawn, also showing improvement, followed the winner close up and finished gamely. Miss Delaney had no mishaps, did her best and was not good enough to beat Ihe two leaders today. Sally Preston away fasc and showing the most speed, set the pace fast, hung on well in the closing drive and was unlucky to lose. Plantland, also a forward contender from the start, suffered from slight Interference in the stretch ruu through being in close quarters and would have been closer up with clear sailing. Old Honesty ran a good race for tlujec-quarters and tired in the stretch drive. Carthage was repeatedly cut off and ran fairly well. Ace High showed speed for three-quarters. Lad of Langden suffered much from interference, lileing ran poorly all the way and tired. Yankee Girl was alwavs a distant trailer. Gambrinus showed superior early speed and raced Monacodor into defeat in the first half, but tired in the stretch. Oheron ran fairly well. Approbation lacked speed and failed to improve his position when called on sharply. The Clansman fell back after going a good three-quarters. The winner was entered for ,000; no bid.
