The uitter, running in improved form, was gaining gamely In the stretch and would have won at a longer distance. Helen Holland, poorly ridden and going wide most of the way, came from a long way back in the stretch and ran a good race. My Love, timidly ridden, was taken back after going a quarter and failed to run to her best previous form. Margaret T. was well up throughout. Agnes Wood was sharply interfered with in the stretch and would have been closer up with a clear course. The winner was entered for 00; no bid. Sam Hoffheimer, showing sudden improvement and superior speed, raced Killdoe into exhaustion and stayed well in the closing drive. Peter Becker, poorly ridden, ran well and, better managed, would have been much closer, up. Thespian fenced poorly and was beaten off. Killdoe showed speed, but was exhausted when approaching the last jump and fell heavily. The others were never conspicuous. Scratched 71174 John Dillon, 144; 724542Pete Vinegar, 144. Robin Hood seemed to sulk in the early stages and suffered from interference in the stretch, but came with a rush when clear of interference and won drawing out. Alencon, away fast, showed the most early speed, but tired in the closing strides. No Quarter, prominent all the way, came on gamely in the stretch and outstayed Refined in the last few strides. Refined, in close quarters early, closed a big gap in the stretch run and finished fast. Meadowbreeze, from a slow beginning, closed a big gap and ran a good rate under skillful riding. Telescope ran a bad race and can do much better. Minot tired after going a fast half. Coon ran below his best form and was .weakly ridden. Minos will show improvement. Sally Preston showed superior early speed, but tired in the last quarter. Bertha , L. finished well. Oraculum quit badly in. the stretch. Lady Esther was slightly interfered with soon after the start, but ran a bad race and far below her best form. Thomas Calhoun away in a forward position, ran well, but tired in the stretch drive. Himalaya had a rough trip ran well and was badly ridden. Pedigree made up much ground.
