HAMILTON HAS A GOOD TURF COURSE. Hamilton. Out.. January 15. — The Hamilton stakes inclti ling the Derby, which will be run during the spring meeting, will soon be announced. They will lose lor entries February M, the same day as the ButTal i fixtures. An innovation which is sure to please owners and race-flam, will be in use for the first time this year. The lull mile grass course, which is inside the mile and a sixteenth regular track, built originally for the irotters. was seeded down several years ago and after much care and attention, a gee*! turf has been secured aud is the only turf track iu Canada. Tin- programs this spring will provide that the last raee each day will be run on this traek and this feature it is believed will prove popular. It is unofficially announced that while the value of the stakes will not be increased this year, the overnight purses will be for not less than 00.
