Happy Rice, away poorly, steadily improved his position throughout into a game third. Fury seemed unable to raise a respectable gallop and was never dangerous. Queen Alamo threatened to spreadeagle the others for the first half, but quit badly. Cheripe finished well. Gannet. a slow breaker, ran a bad race. The winner was entered for 00; no bid.
