LISARO KEEPS UP HIS WINNING FORM Native Son Runs a Fast Five Furlongs Walter Miller Growing Timid Oakland Cal April 28 With plenty of material to work with there being approximately 1500 thor ¬ oughbreds in local training there was another very gxid card of six races at Oakland today There was a feature race named the Alamo Handicap at live furlongs for sprinters A race for twoyear olds in which some good youngsters were engaged three selling races at varying distances and lastly a mile ami twenty yards ditsli far overshadowing the balance of the card in importance in which some of the best horses in training including the now almost invincible Lisaro were participants The track record of 140 was equalled by Lucky Baldwins crack which won in a hard drive and palpably sulking at the end after liaving made all the running Walter Miller who had flve mounts during the afternoon and failed on four of them Including two hot favorites and two strong second choices rode the oddson winner here Miller is beginnliig to show unusual timidity in his riding and when on a horse that is unable to take the lead displays an aversion to take chances and is continually pulling np and the result has been Iliadefeat frequently of late To escape risks incident to close quarters in a race he now goes to the opposite extreme with disastrous results of riding his mount to a positive standstill in order to maintain a lead and clear course Sfevenfull and Frank Fiittner on Saturday and Nellie Racine and Fireball today are conspicuous victims of Millers lapse of form as compared with the two previous seasons The very warm weather made fast time possible and Native Sons in the Alamo Handicap of five furlongs in 50i was particularly impressive Three favorites Ocean Queen L C Ackerley and Lisaro one second choice Native Son and two extreme out ¬ siders Emma G and Elmdale rewarded their backers It is authoritatively announced by the owners of the Santa Anita Racing Association at Arcadia that all the present officials Including John Boden Colonel A W Hamilton Edward Cole E C Smith Charles Henderson and others will be reengaged for next season This disposes of the report that Messrs Hamilton and Cole would not be reap ¬ pointed to their old positions Mr Boden will be Invited to accept the supreme control of the racing itself officialThomas on any terms he may suggest Thls s official Thomas H Williams Colonel A W Hamilton George Rose and Barney Schretber held a conference last week and Mr Williams as president of the Pacific Jockey CIul gave his approval approvalJockey Jockey Kent was set down for three days by byN N starter Thvyer Tlie Burns Waterhonse coming sale of year ¬ lings twentynine bead will take place Mjurltt la the Oakland paddock
