MILFORD FAILS ADMIRERS BY TERAH AND KEEP MOVING Teraii Not in Kentucky Derby Wool Sandals De ¬ feats Kings Daughter Crystal Maid a Fast Filly Holtman to Start at Windsor Lexington Ky April 28 W II Fixers Ken ¬ tucky Derby candidate Milford present favorite for that event sustained a crushing defeat in the clos ¬ ing race this afternoon at the Kentucky Association track lie was in with Terah Keei Moving and Tom Kearney and on the strength of his frequently exploited prowess was made an overwhelming favor ¬ ite supportT and received steady and confident support T Butler who had the mount messed him about considerably but it is doubt fill if he could have won with the best riihr at the track as his pilot lie seemingly lacked much early speed and allowed Keep Moving ti take an apparently winning lead in the first half and when called on strongly for a rharp effort tired badly Terah on the other hand showed a sparkling performance by moving np from last place in the last half in resolute fashion and wearing Keep Moving down in the stretch won with something in reserve reserveJudging Judging by Milfords performance this afternoon and if he is worthy to be considered the most for ¬ midable candidate for Kentucky Derby honors then Terah is the hard luck colt of all the Ken ¬ tucky threeyearolds He was eligible for the Ken ¬ tucky Derby but was declared out on account of his owners lapseAnother allowing the last payment to lapse Another candidates chances for Kentucky Derby honors were diminished when Al Muller failed to finish among the placed ones in the feature race at threequarters in which some fairly good sprinters met Wool Sandals the extreme outsider and ridden by T Lee won after a sharp drive to outstay Kings Daughter DaughterSurprises Surprises during the afternoon were frequent and came in quick succession Only one favorite man ¬ aged to reward its hackers This was Merrick in the third race which he Won with ease from Lady Anne The latter was ridden by Franklin a new beginner under contract to T C McDowell It was his first mount in a race and it gave him confidence to pilot Anderson with a degree of more intelligence than is ordinarily displayed by green riders and he landed him a handy winner winnerThe The opening race disclosed in Crystal Maid the best lilly so far shown at the meeting and that she was taken into camp by Ann Mcuee was mainly attributed to poor racing luck Crystal Maid has shown phenomenal trials and her connections made no secret of their confidence In her ability to land the purse That she will take Ami McGees mea ¬ sure in their next meeting under equal conditions was generally conceded concededCold Cold bleak weather did not prevent a good at ¬ tendance and the sjxirt was about the best of the meeting The track had dried considerably and liordered on fast fastFred Fred Cook received word this afternoon that his second string consisting of fifteen horses would be shipped to Louisville on Saturday next They will be raced at Churchill Downs for the first two weeks and then shipped to the Canadian tracks Frank Itector who will have charge of them left New York this morning for Nashville to superin ¬ tend the shipment shipmentStarter Starter Iloltinau received notification from George M Hendrie today that he had been appointed to serve meetingA as starter during the Windsor meeting A II Clark is negotiating for the transfer of Miss PimlicoJ Mazzoni to persons now racing at Pimlico J C Ferriss continued the report that he had dsMsed of Prince Ahmed to A Levy The con ¬ sideration was lrOO and 500 additional from the first purse the horse wins winsG G C Bennett was among todays visitors
