MONTREAL EXPECTING EXCELLENT RACING Montreal Qne April 2S The same gentlemen as last year will olllciate at the coming Blue Bon ¬ nets meeting in June Mr John Boden whose work in New York State during the past few months was watched with greatest interest by his friends here will act as racing secretary and clerk of the course Judge Frank J Bryan will preside in the stand and Arthur P Dade whose work here last season Was giltedged will do the starting In the stewards stand the following gentlemen will be present alternating In groups of three C J Fitz ¬ gerald AVelton C Percy W 1 Uiggs and for a day or so perhaps Algernon Dalngcrtield and Sir II Montagu Allan James Carrnthers and Colin Campbell of the executive committee The committeeThe stakes which close on Thursday next are attracting a great many entries and the applica ¬ tions for stabling indicate that everv stall will be tilled The track having settled is iu much better condition than it was last year and if necessary could be put in shape for a race meeting in a week It will be fully one second faster for a mile than it was last year To yearTo say that Montreal is anxiously awaiting the thoroughbreds is only stating what the most casual observer can notice no matter where he goes in this neighborhood Last year before the new course was opened racing did not mean much in Montreal The MontrealThe question of transiiortation of thoroughbreds from outside points which was a difficult one last fall has also been solved The Grand Trunk and Canadian Pacific Railways have built special horse express trains at a total cost of 140000 These trains are an improvement on anything ever seen in Canada or the United States The Canadian Pacific train for instance which consists of ten horse cars and two special sleepers is equipped with vestibules throughout and by an arrangement of collapsible partitions an aisle can be made the full length of the train If an ownerJias his horses in the car next the engine he can go from his sleeper to that car and back again at any time
