HORSES RUNNING FAST AT WINDSOR Glimmer Defeats Ellicott and Equals the Track Record at a Mile and a Sixteenth Detroit Midi July S There was a decided improvement in the racing at Windsor today The card was one of the best offered at the meeting good horses being in several of the races Keen contests were in order the finishes in three of the races finding the first two heads apart and fighting it out H F Carmans stable furnished the only winning favorite of the afternoon in Waterbury which captured the sixtli race Waterbury was heavily backed away from here and his people are reported to have won handsomely over the black colts victory The track was probably faster than on any previous day of the meeting meetingIn In the steeplechase Bilberry clipped a full second off the track record for the twomile course while Glimmer equaled the mile and a sixteenth track record by running the distance in 14GJ The early pace in this1 race was very fast the first mile being run in 1 flat There was much rough riding the steeplechase Waterway which was beaten out a head by Bilberry being the principal sufferer McClain had the mount on Waterway and he was herded by the white riders all the way The last sixteenth of a mile found Bilberry and Waterway repeatedly bumping and crowding one another Mc Clain claimed foul against the winner but it was not allowed allowedThere There were several arrivals from Latonia this morning A division of W Gersts and George Hollos stables got in and several of Koine Respcss are expected in tomorrow tomorrowJockey Jockey C Ross was the only rider that put in an appearance from the Milldale track but he reports that several other jockeys will be here within the next few days Barney Schreibcr lias first call on Ross services for the meeting meetingBilly Billy Myer who has been superintending the re ¬ construction o the new Niagara Jockey Clubs course at Fort Erie is reported to have been forced to re ¬ linquish his position through sickness Myer was taken sick a few weeks ago and loft for his home in Streator 111 to recuperate Johnnie Blake Fred Cooks highclass threeyear old made bis first appearance of the meeting in the fifth race for which he was favorite The colt showed a great turn of speed for five furlongs be ¬ fore he quit He was evidently a bit short and the next time out it will take the best here to trim him The entire Cook stable will be shipped from here to Fort Erie at the close of the meeting
