FAVORITES HAVE A DAY AT SEATTLE Seattle Wash August 11 The public had an inning at The Meadows today when Shirley Ross more Achieve Fern L and Convent Bell scored as favorites All four wore well backed and the ring lost heavily Nonie Lucille one of two winning outsiders was by no means friendless but Sea Lad the other was accorded scant support Rip ¬ per and Triumphant two supposedly good things that were well backed In the fifth and sixth races were unable to deliver the goods both winding up third The consistent Forn L ran six furlongs in 11 U in winning the F O E Handicap in which she easily vanquished n small but select field fieldJockey Jockey Gaugel who is under contract to the St James stable was indefinitely suspended as the re ¬ sult of the manner in which lie rode Silver Line the only fuvorite out of the money during the day There were some old scores against Gangel and tills was only a culminating incident incidentJockev Jockev Pago was reprimanded and fined 50 for rough riding in the first race Had Bernardo the vlctinr of his tactics finished close enough np to have benefited by such a course Shirley Rossmore would have been disqualified
