LOUISVILLE GOES WITH LATONIA No Bookmakine No Fall Racing Is tho Colla Stand Holding Company Will Fail Louisville Ky August 118 It will be a case oC paddle your own canoe as far as the two racing associations of this city are concerned in the future Douglas Park and Churchill Downs are at present controlled hi a holding company and a split is threatened Each track is in the company for 300000 making the total capital 000000 Tho rock ou which the split came is the betting ques ¬ tion L A Colin and his associates who own Douglas Park are satisfied that it will be impossible to conduct a race meeting with a profit with the parimutnel bettingColonel system of betting Colonel Charles F Grainger Colonel Matt Winri and their associates who control the New Louis ¬ ville Jockey Club are of a different opinion Colonel Grainger is also a member of the Racing Commis ¬ sion which has placed itself on record as being op ¬ posed to any form of betting excepting the parl mutucl mutuclIt It seems that an effort has been made to get Colonel Grainger to change his attitude on the sys ¬ tem of wagering but it is said that he has decllnwt to do so and for this reason each of the Louisville Jockey Clubs will in the future KO it alone Doug ¬ las Park will make application for fall dates with hookmaking If the commission declines to allow the bookmakers to comer ou the matter will go to the courts Latonia will also ask for dates with bookmaking bookmakingAs As the matter stands at present it is hard to see how a clash can be avoided between the racing or ¬ ganizations and the Kaclng Commission and It is sure to come unless somebody runs out before tho time arrives The question that will come up is the one involv ¬ ing the right of the commission to dictate tho form of wagering and It that is decided In favor of the commission the latters right of exlatencu will then be made a legal question
