MORE STAKES FOR SANTA ANITA Dr J S Gardner manager of the Los Angeles Racing Association arrived in the city yesterday lo transact some private business Discussing Cali ¬ fornia racing for next winter Mr Gardner pre ¬ dicted that it would be the greatest season ever experienced by the coast tracks Our chief con ¬ cern for tho present said Mr Gardner is to care for all the horsemen that have expressed their wil ¬ lingness to race in California this winter In the absence of definite news regarding the probable opening of the New Orleans tracks many horsemen are planning for a California campaign Their in ¬ creased numbers will serve to bring to the coast the best horses in training and insure splendid rac icg The additional number of racegoers that will be on hand from eastern points will increase the revenues of the associations to a great extent but a goodly portion of the money will be turned back to horsemen in added money and purse offerings The Santa Anita track will add six stakes to its former list of fourteen They will probably range in value from 1500 to 3000 and be conditioned so as to attract a good list of entries Some of the overnight races will also have Increased values valuesMr Mr Gardner will shortly depart for Los Angeles
