HUGH MCARREN IS A STAYER Lexington Ky September 18 Hugh McCarren has the stallion Hapsburg ten mares and ten wean ¬ lings the youngsters all the get of Hapsburg at J V Shipps Sunny Slope Stud near Midway and he says he Intends to keep them there as long ay he is able to pay their bills Tlie sport of racing is in a bad way but I feel that it is bound to come Into its own again said McCarren a day or two ago If 1 should put my horses on the market now I would have to sacrifice them so I have made np my mind to keep them as long as I am able to pay their bills They cost me about 200 a month and if I tairt pick that up in racing the little ixitato business in New York will produce the neces ¬ sary coin for a while at any rate Holding thor ¬ oughbreds that is a good stallion and mares at this time is much the same as making an investment in the market If yon can pay and wait you are sure to win in the end endMr Mr McCarren is breaking two yearling fillips by Hapsburg One is a chestnut out of Ethel Wheat and the other is a bay out of Snare He says the Ethel Wheat filly is as fine an individual as he ever saw and lie has great expectations for her in a racing way
